Who Am I?

I’m Isabella. Isa, if we’re being friendly.

I’m English, but my heart’s half-Spanish. I grew up in London, surrounded by books and stories that felt bigger than life. Somewhere between library stacks and late-night scribbles in old notebooks, I fell in love with words.

The first book that truly grabbed me? La Ciudad de las Bestias by Isabel Allende. I was twelve, and it felt like unlocking a door to another world. From there, it was The House of the Spirits, and I was officially obsessed—not just with the stories but with the language itself. I was something of a teacher’s pet in my A Level Spanish class, devouring every novel my teacher mentioned. I’d pretend it was just for the grades, but honestly? I loved it.

That passion led me somewhere unexpected: romance novels. After all, what’s The House of the Spirits if not a sweeping, generational love story, messy and magical and unforgettable?

I went on to study world literature at university in London, dreaming of making it as a writer and poet. Halfway through my second year, I made a sudden, passionate decision—I quit. Full-time writer mode, no backup plan. I spent a year reading my romance poetry at open mic nights, chasing the dream. I made about £18. Minimum-wage jobs kept me afloat while I scribbled love stories in every free moment.

Eventually, reality hit: I’d need more patience. I found my way into online content writing—not quite the dream, but still writing for a living. And the dream? It’s still there. To write romance, full-time, no plan B.

This blog is my way of keeping that dream alive.

It’s part diary—the books I’m reading, the ones that keep me up at night. Part workshop—tips and lessons I’m picking up about writing romance, crafting great prose, and telling stories that actually feel something.

I take writing classes now and then. Sometimes I get lucky and weave romance into my content work. But here’s where the heart of it lives.
