A Perfect Stranger by Terry McLaughlin follows Sydney Gordon on a hilarious journey to find herself and true love. She finds excitement mixed with mortification and it all is surrounded by Nick Martelli, former television host and would be writer.
Sydney’s boyfriend proposed to her before she chaperoned a school trip to Europe. She didn’t agree or disagree; she just knows that he would be a calming influence on her, as she is known for being impetuous. Once in London, she finds herself being mugged and strikes the mugger with her tote.
Nick has every intention of writing his dream novel, while on a vacation with his brother who is chaperoning students on a European tour. He definitely does not intend to waste his time on a crazy woman who gives him a split lip. He has no choice though once his brother informs him that their two groups would be touring Europe together.
Sydney and Nick begin to find pleasure in each others company, which slowly leads to a possible lifelong relationship. But it’s only a short vacation and Sydney still has a fiancé, sort of, waiting for her to return to California. Can the two have a lasting relationship or is it meant to be a summer fling?
Sydney is a riot. Ms. McLaughlin has done an impressive job of creating a woman that will make readers cringe along with and giggle at.
A Perfect Stranger is a great title for the book, too. Sometimes it takes a perfect stranger to show a person what they really want and need. Sydney needed a little bit of help and Nick provided it, whether he thought he was doing so or not. Unintentionally, the two find a great friendship, the best foundation for a lasting relationship.
